Our Dance Festival with Yorkshire Academy of Creative Arts & Dance

At Co-op Academy Parkland, we hosted our very first Dance Festival for Primary School aged children on Friday 12th July. We have worked alongside the Yorkshire Academy of Creative Arts & Dance (YACAD) to create an opportunity for our community to come together through dance and performing arts. We worked with community and school groups across Bradford, including Our Lady & St Brendan’s Catholic Primary School, Ashland’s Primary School, Swain House Primary School, Titus Salt School, YACAD’s extracurricular groups as well as our own groups.

Welcome to the penultimate Parkland Post of the school year!  If I thought last week was busy, then this week has been a rollercoaster!  We have had a super week of class assemblies and the end of year Y6 performances of Peter Pan.  I have been incredibly impressed by the way all of our pupils have learnt their lines, delivered them perfectly and succeeded together.

Welcome to this week's Parkland Post which is dedicated to Ruby Morris-Rands who we said our final farewell to on Monday.  Yesterday, our children and staff came together with close family and friends in a Memorial Assembly which celebrated Ruby's life through dance, poetry and with some of our Year 4 children sharing their memories of Ruby. It was a really special time for all and I was incredibly proud of the empathy shown by all of our children.  In the next few weeks, we will be developing a Memorial Garden which will be a place of quiet reflection for children and staff to remember anyone who they have lost.

Welcome to this week's Parkland Post, it has been such a busy time across our academy and our after school clubs have started with a bang!  Our clubs are full to the brim at the moment but if you would like your child to join one, you can put their name down on the waiting list.  We are so lucky to be able to offer these free clubs as a result of staff giving up their time to run them - thank you.

Welcome to this week's Parkland Post; what a week it has been!  It feels like it has been a whirlwind as we have been so busy.  We loved having families in for our parent events this week - Year 4 made electrical circuits for their steady hand games and Year 5 made water wells.

Welcome to this week's Parkland Post - we have been enjoying the sunny weather this week.  A reminder that children can wear summer uniforms and on warm days, please make sure your child is wearing sunscreen, and that they bring a hat and a water bottle so they can stay safe in the sun.  Please follow this link to see which items can be worn during the summer term:

Please, can you also ensure that your child is bringing and wearing the correct PE kit and school shoes and that any earrings worn are small studs.  Thank you for your support of this.

Welcome to this week's Parkland Post - the summer term is hurtling along at great speed!  The weather has been so much warmer this week which has really lifted everyone's spirits - we have begun planting our sunflowers ready for our academy competition to see who can grow the tallest sunflower!  Mrs Wierzbianski received a letter from the Eco Warriors to request new equipment for them to use when tending to our green spaces.  We have also applied for a grant from the Royal Horticultural Society to use on grey to green projects so watch this space for further details and keep your fingers crossed that we are awarded the grant.

Welcome to this week's Parkland Post!  It has been another busy week filled with learning and working together to succeed.  We began the week reading Dear Earth to celebrate World Earth Day, each class discussed what they could do to help take care of our world and the footprint we leave behind.  This links well to many of our Ways of Being: Show You Care; Do What Matters Most and Succeed Together.

Welcome to this week's Parkland Post - what a wild weather week it has been!  We began the week celebrating World Art Day in our whole school assembly with a book called 'The Artist' - why not ask your child what they remember about the book.  The children were then able to explore their own favourite artists in a class assembly on Wednesday.  Next week's theme for the week is Earth Day which is taking place on Monday the 22nd April - Mrs Wierzbianski has picked out a book which she will share with the children during assembly.
