Friday 12th January 2024

Happy New Year and welcome to our first Parkland Post of 2024!  Our children have made a fantastic start to the spring term, it has been a hive of activity.  Curriculum bubbles were sent home last week so you can see exactly what your child will be learning this half term.  Homework menus have also been sent home and I have been thrilled to see some amazing examples of work being brought back into school, especially from Indira in Year 3 and Miley in Year 6.

Attendance Matters

This week's class attendance award has been won by Year 6 with 94.7% (this is the second time in a row they have won) so well done to them!  Our whole school average has increased this week to 90.1% but is still lower than our target of 96% - let's see if we can hit that target next week.

Plumber Drummer

We were so lucky to have a visit from the Plumber Drummer yesterday afternoon - he was incredible and had us all dancing and joining in - even the teachers couldn't help showing some funky moves! Thank you ThePlumberDrummerUK - we loved every minute!

Panto at the Alhambra this Tuesday!

We are so excited to be going to the Alhambra Theatre in Bradford to see Cinderella.  We will be leaving school at 1pm and returning at 4:30pm (traffic permitting).  Please remember not to park at the top of the drive as we need to bring 4 large coaches and a minibus in - if we are unable to park it will delay sending the children home.
Children will be walked from the coaches into their playgrounds so you can collect from there - we will not be releasing any children from the top of the drive; thank you for your cooperation with this.  All children will need to be collected as it will be dark by then and there will be no crossing patrol.
Please send any packed lunches in carrier bags with a name on so we can simply throw these away after lunch - this will mean the children don't have any bags with them on the coaches.
We can't wait to go and enjoy this incredible experience!  Thank you to Emma Ainsworth, our Chair of the Academy Governing Body whose idea this was and who set up the crowdfund in order for this to happen.  Thank you also to our PTA who have donated a bag of sweets for every child.

Foodcycle

Foodcycle is a new meal provision in our local area.  It takes place every Thursday evening at the Rockwell Centre.  They offer a freshly cooked three course meal, no pre-booking needed, just turn up on the day.

And finally...

We hope you have a brilliant weekend, it is due to turn colder this week so please make sure you send your child with a warm, waterproof coat, hat and gloves etc with names in.  Mrs Wierzbianski is looking forward to having her hair and nails done, Mr Watson is going to a baby shower for his friend, Ms Pascoe is going for a long walk with her boys and Mrs Shirra is spending quality time with her girls.  Whatever you decide to do, we hope you enjoy yourselves!  We will see you bright and early on Monday morning where our doors will open at 8:40am ready for learning to begin at 8:45am.
