Parkland Post – 7th July

Wow, it has been an incredibly busy week!  The children around our academy were simply buzzing with tales from our school discos and summer fair this week – they have all had the most amazing time.  None of these events could take place without the help of our school community and our fabulous PTA – thank you to everyone who helped out.

Our key dates page has been updated with timings for various events such as Sports Days.  Please keep checking the website for the most up to date information and come and ask if you have any queries about any of them. You can also find our events on our Class Dojo story.

Parent events

We have also had another week full of parent events – Year 1 had a seaside themed event where families could try their luck at hook a duck, create a seaside collage, build sandcastles and chase bubbles.  Year 2 created scented pillows which gave them the opportunity to show off their sewing skills.  Thank you to all of our parents and carers who joined us for these events.  Look out for more events in the autumn term.

Staffing Updates

We wished our lovely Miss Carter lots of luck as she begins her maternity leave – we can’t wait to meet her new baby when she or he arrives!

We are also going to be saying goodbye to our wonderful Miss Badura who has a new job in another school – we wish her all the luck in the world and would like to thank her for all her hard work over the years – she will be missed at Parkland.  Her last day with us will be the 21st of July.

Transition Day

Most of our children were able to meet their new teachers this week and were excited about the year ahead as they move up another year.  They completed a number of different tasks such as a piece of writing about themselves and some art work which linked to Careers Related Learning.  They had time to begin to get to know their new classroom and staff who will be working with them.  In September, we will be holding a Meet the Teacher event, details will follow closer to the time.

Class Dojo

During one of our parent forums, you requested to have more information and clearer communication about the things that go on in our academy for your child/ren.  We have had Class Dojo running for a few weeks now and the feedback has been incredibly positive.  Thank you to everyone who has signed up to Class Dojo – please let Mr Watson know if you are having trouble accessing it and we will get you sorted.

Skills Builder Home Challenge

And finally…

I think all of our staff deserve a rest this weekend, we have lots of events coming up this week, don’t forget to check the calendar dates on Class Dojo or on our website.  Mrs Wierzbianski is going to meet up with some friends, Mr Watson is going to the theatre, Ms Pascoe is Dragonboat racing in Wakefield and Mrs Shirra is catching up with University friends. We hope that you all enjoy your weekend and we will see you bright and early on Monday morning where our doors open at 8:40am so our children can be ready to begin learning at 8:45am.  Thank you for your continued support with attendance and punctuality – it makes all the difference to your children.
