Parkland Post – 11th February
This week
Welcome to this week’s Parkland Post. Thank you to the wonderful parents who came to our Parent Forum this week. We discussed our Mental Health action plan and the progress we have made so far, the upcoming events that you will be able to look forward to and a general chat about how we can encourage more parents and carers to future forums. We will be sharing information about all of these things over the next few weeks.
Skills Builder Weekend Challenge!
We hope you have a fabulous weekend and will see you bright and early on Monday morning for our final week before we break up for half term.
Year 5 Trip
Year 5 will be going to Haworth to visit the Bronte Parsonage on Wednesday the 16th February, this links in with both their Geography topic and their English work. The children have been reading Wuthering Heights written by Emily Bronte and also learning about the Yorkshire landscape.
The coach will leave at 9am prompt and will bring the children back for the end of the school day. Children must wear uniform and a warm coat along with sensible shoes and a hat/gloves if necessary for the weather on the day.

Express Yourself Day!
As this week has been Childrens Mental Health week, we will be celebrating and doing some fundraising for the charity MIND on Friday the 18th.
We want you to show us who you are, this means coming to school however you feel expresses you.
This could mean you wear your sports kit, your dance outfit, your best sparkly dress, the uniform of your dream job or even your favourite comfy loungewear. You may want to dress in a rainbow of colours or head to toe in black- whatever makes you feel comfortable is what we want you to wear! Please donate £1 to MIND in school.
World Book Day
This year is the 25th anniversary of World Book Day, and it falls on Thursday 3rd March.
World Book Day is a wonderful way for children to celebrate their love for reading. Every year, school gets involved by handing out World Book Day tokens, and the best part…encouraging everyone to dress up!
We will be having a book swap breakfast for parents and carers from 8am, you can come in and join us with your children and take books home with for you and your child keep.
If you have any donations of books we would love to accept them for our book swap!
We would encourage all children to dress up as a book character or in their pyjamas. Please bring the book your character is from if you can!
Coffee Morning- Jobs and Training
There will be a coffee morning in school 9am till 10.30am on Friday March the 4th. If you would like an informal chat with helpful professionals who can help you with getting into training or you need advice on benefits or employment this is for you. We hope you can come in and join us.
