Parkland Post – 3rd February 2023

Welcome to this week’s Parkland Post, we have had yet another busy week where our children have impressed us with their knowledge.  Year 5 have been planning an investigation into thermal insulators and conductors.  Year 1 have been working on ways to save our planet and have written a letter to persuade me to lead an assembly on it with their help.

Roman Day

Years 3 and 4 were joined by a visitor yesterday who helped them to learn all about the life of the Romans.  They learnt about inventions such as roads, hypocausts, aqueducts and sewers and were able to handle artefacts – the oil burner being a particularly interesting item.

Time to Talk Day

Our staff were treated to a delicious Time to Talk breakfast prepared by Mrs Peacock and Mrs Denby this morning and everyone came together to chat together.  There was also time given in each class to talk about mental wellbeing and how it is better to connect with each other.  Why not try this weekend to take some time away from the devices (myself included) and spend time talking to each other for a little bit longer.  Tell each other something that you’re looking forward to for the month of February that will help with your wellbeing.

Next week’s themes

On Tuesday, it is Safer Internet Day.  Our children will be learning all about the importance of staying safe online and what they can do if there is ever a time where they don’t feel comfortable with what they are viewing or who might be contacting them.

It is also Children’s Mental Health Week in association with Place2Be so our children will be completing lots of activities which will help lift their mental wellbeing and encourage them to foster healthy connections to friends, family and others.  We will be ending the week with a non-uniform day – a ‘Dress to Express’ Day.

And finally…

We hope you have a wonderful weekend, there is just one week left before we finish for the February half term.  School closes at 3:15pm on Friday 10th February and will reopen on Monday 20th February where our doors will be open from 8:40am.  Mrs Wierzbianski will be taking her daughter shopping (wish me luck) and Ms Pascoe will be attending 3 children’s birthday parties!! We will see you all bright and early on Monday morning.
