Parkland Post - Friday 28th February 2025

Welcome to this week's Parkland Post!  Everyone has made a fabulous return to school this week and we have loved hearing all about what you got up to during the holidays. We have seen the sun a lot more and it has been a delight to be out on the school gate welcoming families each day - it always makes me smile seeing our children race down the school path to get into class in the mornings.  As the weather improves, we are beginning to think about spring and how we will be able to start developing our Remembrance Garden - keep your eyes peeled for information about a Community Day where we will be asking for help with our digging and planting.

Attendance Matters

Our whole school improved since the last week we were in school and is 93.4%.  We still have a long way to go before we manage to hit our target of 96% and I would like to ask you all to help us next week by making sure your child is in school every day and on time.  I will be giving out some early bird prizes one day next week - remember, you have to be in it to win it!!

Classes who reached 96% or above have earned themselves an extra playtime - well done!  We have started a new class attendance challenge and Years 2, 3 and 5 were able to put stars on the leaderboard - they are really succeeding together.

Y1 History Workshop

Thank you to everyone who came to Year 1's History Exhibition - we hope you had a wonderful time exploring all of the toys from past and present and that you were impressed by your child's knowledge.  We love welcoming our families into the academy and love how involved you are with your children's learning.

Early Years New Build Update

We have VERY exciting news!  Our Early Years new build has been completed this afternoon and it looks absolutely gorgeous!  Late into the night tonight and over the weekend, staff will be working hard moving furniture into the new space and getting it ready so we can welcome you next week - we will give you more detailed information over the course of the weekend so you know which door to go to on Monday morning.

PTA Dates for your Diary

Our amazing PTA have been into the academy this week to tell us all about their exciting plans for the rest of the academic year.  They will be at our Book at Bedtime Event on Wednesday 5th March between 5 and 6pm and will be providing everyone with hot chocolates and biscuits to enjoy as you listen to the different books being read by staff.

They also have the following events coming up:

  • Scavenger Hunt - 21st May
  • Break the Rules Day - 23rd May
  • Summer Disco - 26th June
  • Summer Fair - 17th July between 3 and 5pm.

There will be further details about each event which will be shared with you soon.

And finally...

We hope you have a brilliant weekend whatever you decide to do.  I will be in school all weekend helping to get the new Early Years classrooms ready in time for school on Monday with Mr Watson, Mrs Shirra and Ms Pascoe.  We will see you all bright and early on Monday where our doors will open at 8:40am ready for learning to begin at 8:45am.
