Parkland Post – 30th June

Welcome to this week’s Parkland Post!  Our Wellbeing Week has been a great success with activities such as circus skills, mindfulness colouring, yoga and meditation.  We hope your child will remember these techniques to help with their wellbeing and share with you what they have learnt.

Our key dates page has been updated with timings for various events such as Sports Days.  Please keep checking the website for the most up to date information and come and ask if you have any queries about any of them. You can also find our events on our Class Dojo story. Do not forget we have a training day on the 3rd July.

World Well-Being Week

This week was World Well-Being week and we had a variety of activities to provide our children with calmness and tranquillity. On Monday, we had lots of circus activities out on the playground where the children were able to learn a new a skill. On Tuesday, we had a focus on mindful singing in our assembly as well as in class. On Wednesday, we had a some yoga exercises enabling the children to achieve peacefulness in both body and mind. On Thursday, we had a spa experience, to give ourselves rest and relieve any stress or worry. Year 4 were also able to have additional enrichment to their week by participating in a ukulele workshop delivered by the Yorkshire Academy of Creative Arts & Dance (YACAD). Today, we had lovely mindfulness through dot painting or abstract art inspired by Paul Klee.

Miss Carter

Miss Carter, who teaches in our Reception class, will be starting her maternity leave next Friday and Mr Watson will be covering until she returns.  We would like to wish her luck and can’t wait to hear about her new arrival!

Y5 Volcano Parent Event

If you were looking for awe and wonder, you needed to look no further than the Year 5 volcano parent event. The children were very excited and there was a real bustle to the classrooms as they worked together to create active volcanoes. Our governors joined Year 5 for their workshop and they were so impressed by the parent community coming together and being a part our children’s learning journey.

Y4 Art Parent event

Year 4 had a fabulous parent event as well! We had a carousel of 4 different art activities related to sculpture and they used their previous knowledge around the Angel of the North. We were super impressed with the positive atmosphere and the teamwork of the Year 4 team.
