Parkland Post - Friday 18th July 2025

Welcome to the final Parkland Post of the year and what a year it has been!  I am such a proud Headteacher, our children and families are at the heart of everything we do.  It was lovely to see so many of you at this morning's Celebration Assembly, our academy is a stronger place when we have our families with us.  Yesterday's Summer Fair was lots of fun with a wide variety of stalls on offer.  Our classes had a competition to see who could 'Grow a Fiver' as part of our enterprise and careers related learning - see which classes managed the largest totals below!

Attendance Really Does Matter

This week's whole school attendance was 93% which is higher than last week.  Our attendance for the whole year was 92% which is slightly higher than last year which was 91.2%.  We will be continuing to have a BIG push on attendance next year and we will be focusing on being in school on time so there is no lost learning.  It is so important to me that our children have the best experiences in the classroom and that they all come to school with a big smile on their faces - I certainly look forward to seeing them each morning on the gate.

Our attendance treats were enjoyed yesterday with gold certificate holders being given a token for our reading vending machine, a pizza party and an extra playtime.  Silver certificate holders also enjoyed a pizza party and an extra playtime and bronze certificate holders had an extra playtime with an ice lolly of their choice.

PTA Summer Fair

Our annual Summer Fair took place yesterday with lots of stalls and activities.  I wanted to thank our fantastic PTA for organising and running the event and to our pupils and staff for their class stalls.  I would also like to thank the staff from YACAD (Yorkshire Academy of Creative Arts and Dance) for the brilliant inflatable fun all afternoon.  They were giving out leaflets for the things they offer after school - if you like the look of them, please sign up for wrap around care, after school classes and so much more!

Each class took part in the 'Grow a Fiver' challenge and I have to say, each year, there are always so many different ideas!  The classes managed to raise:

Reception - £16

Year 1 - £27.12

Year 2 - £23.50

Year 3 - £34.70

Year 4 - £22

Year 5 - £35

Year 6 - £41.50

The total raised on all stalls was a whopping £285.74 which is simply incredible!  The money is used to pay for treats for the children, resources and anything else they might need along the way!

Thank you and Farewell

I would like to thank our amazing staff who are leaving today the best of luck in their next adventures.  We are going to miss each and everyone of you.  Ms Pascoe, Mrs Flaherty, Miss Hodgson, Mr Brown and Mr Phillips are all going to brand new jobs and we can't wait to hear all about it once you have settled into your roles.  We also say goodbye and good luck to Mrs Charlesworth who is retiring from her midday supervisor role.  We are so grateful that you have been part of our Parkland journey - we really couldn't have done it without you.  My last thank you goes to you, the families and pupils because without you, there would be no Parkland.  Have a safe and enjoyable summer break and we will see you bright and early on Wednesday 3rd September where our doors will reopen at 8:40am ready for a new year of learning to begin at 8:45am.
