Parkland Post – 21st July

Welcome to the final Parkland Post of the year!  We have had an extremely busy week with so many events happening.  It has been wonderful seeing so many parents and carers supporting each of our events this year – we have even more planned for next academic year so keep a look out for these!

Careers Fair

Yesterday afternoon, we were joined by a whole host of volunteers who came to talk about their careers.  We had visitors from the Environment Agency, Co-op, Adept, Biffa, Radiographers from BRI, West Yorkshire Police, Kala Sangam, YACAD.  We would like to thank everyone for giving up their time to speak to our children and get them excited about potential careers in the future.

KS2 Sports Day

Thankfully, the rain held off just long enough for our KS2 children to have their Sports Day.  We would like to send Mr Parkinson a BIG thank you for his organisation of both Sports Days – the winning team was the GREEN team who will be able to enjoy an extra playtime in September – well done!

Big Summer Bash!

Mrs Flaherty organised an amazing Big Summer Bash which our children loved, especially as the weather was gorgeous!  Mr Wilkin did a full DJ set with some karaoke, Jet, our school dog, made a special appearance and there were games and ice pops galore! Well done to all of our children who were part of the celebration and thank you to both Mrs Flaherty and Mr Wilkin.  Thank you to our fabulous PTA for providing the children with ice pops!

Uniform

We will be having a positive start in September with our uniform.  Please ensure that you look at the link below before buying any uniform items so you can make sure they are the correct items – thank you:

Goodbye and Good Luck

As we come to the end of another academic year, we are saying goodbye to some wonderful members of staff.  Mrs Walsh is going to be leaving this year, we wish her luck in her next adventure and would like to take this opportunity to thank her for everything she has done over the years for the families of Parkland – you will be missed.

Miss Badura is going to be leaving us for pastures new and has a new job in another school.  We wish her all the luck in the world and would like to thank her for the wonderful things she has done in her time at Parkland.

Mrs Brown is also going to be leaving us this year as she has decided to retire.  Mrs Brown has been a fabulous Academic Mentor working with small groups or one to one with your children and has helped so many of them.  Thank you for all that you have done and we hope you enjoy your richly deserved retirement.

We also say goodbye to Miss Ali in Year 1, Mrs Khan in Year 6 and Mr Buckle in Year 5 who have been with us since January.  Thank you for all of your hard work and commitment over the last few months and good luck with your future plans.

Training Days in September 4th and 5th September

Please do not forget that we are having two training days in September and our children will return on Wednesday 6th September where our doors open at 8:40am and learning begins at 8:45am.

And finally…

We just wanted to take this time to wish you all a fabulous holiday, we hope you manage to get some rest so we can all return in September ready for the next academic year.  Thank you for all of your support this year, we are looking forward to an exciting year next year.  We will see you all bright and early on Wednesday the 6th September where our doors will open at 8:40am so learning can begin at 8:45am.  Take care – Mrs Wierzbianski.
