Parkland Post – 29 April

This week

Welcome to this week’s Parkland Post and to our summer term!  I have been thrilled with the way our children have settled back into life at Co-op Academy Parkland, they all look to have grown taller and were ready to buckle down to the new learning their teachers have prepared for them.

Plumber Drummer UK Performance

On Monday, our children were lucky to enjoy a performance from the Plumber Drummer Nathan who is part of the Bradford Arts and Music Service.  We were treated to a very lively set which had everyone dancing and clapping along!  Nathan has said that he is always looking for new songs to perform so if you have any suggestions for songs then let us know in school and we can tweet him.

Academy Improvements

Over the last few weeks, we have been having lots of work done in our academy.  Carpets and vinyl have been replaced and we have had a completely new library refit as part of the Trust’s commitment to promoting a love of reading.  Keep your eyes peeled as we will be having an official opening of our library very soon!

Parent Forum

On Thursday 5th May, we will be having our next Parent Forum at 9am in school.  There will of course be cake and a cuppa as these are essential ingredients for discussing what we have planned for this half term.

Mrs Murgatroyd and myself will be there and would love to see as many of you as possible.

Skills Builder Home Challenge

We are focusing on a new skill this half term, ‘Staying Positive’.  This week’s home challenge is:

If you complete the challenge, please send photos of your mood board to our Facebook Messenger page and you will appear on our Skills Builder display board and will receive 5 Parkland Points!  We can’t wait to see what you are going to create.

And finally…

We hope you enjoy the long weekend, we will keep our fingers crossed for good weather and see you bright and early on Tuesday 3rd May where we will be having an author visit by Jenny York.
