Parkland Post - Friday 25th April 2025

Welcome to this week's Parkland Post - it has been wonderful to have you all back in the academy!  The beautiful blossom tree is in bloom and is showering us all with pink confetti as you come into school and the sunshine has put a smile on our faces!  Our children have made an incredibly positive start to the summer term and they have been telling visitors to Parkland this week all about their learning; I can feel that this term is going to be an exciting one!

Parents' Evenings

Thank you to everyone who came and met with class teachers - we love sharing your child's progress with you and it's another brilliant opportunity to have families into our academy.  A Google form has been emailed to you all so we get your feedback on various aspects of academy life; it would be so helpful if you could take a few minutes to complete one so we know how to offer the very best for our families at Parkland.

Attendance Matters

This week, our whole school attendance has been so much higher so a big thank you to everyone who has been in every day and on time - let's keep it going!  The whole school attendance figure is 95.5% which is so very nearly above our target of 96% so I really do feel that we can crack it next week!  We have 3 classes who have gained an extra playtime as they were above 96%:  Years 4, 1 and 3 - well done!  Our winning class was Year 3 with 97.8%!

Y1 Saltaire Trip

Today, Year 1 had the most amazing day out in Saltaire. They learnt so many facts about Saltaire, Sir Titus Salt and the Salt's Mill. We explored the streets of Saltaire, Salt's Mill with its historical buildings and art gallery and ate our lunch in Robert's Park. After that, we had ice cream and played in Saltaire Park!

New Clubs

We have lots of clubs happening this half term which you can sign up for on Arbor.  Thank you to the staff who give up their own time to run these clubs.  A new one has been added today which you can sign up for 'Positive Vibes' Club which focuses on mental health for Years 3 to 6 with Mrs Lee-Winter.

And finally...

We hope you have a lovely weekend - the weather looks cloudy for Saturday and sunny for Sunday!  I am going to the cinema with Ms Pascoe, Mrs Shirra is having a big family meal and Mr Watson is going out with friends.  Whatever you decide to do, we hope you have a great time doing it!  We will see you bright and early next week where our doors will open at 8:40am ready for learning to begin at 8:45am.  Remember, we are going to crack the 96% target and succeed together!
