Parkland Post - Friday 4th April 2025

Welcome to this week's Parkland Post!  We hope you have been enjoying the sunshine; it really helps to get you smiling, even if it has been a bit chilly in the mornings!  I was lucky enough to be able to visit our Year 6 pupils on their residential at Buckden House yesterday - they have been having such an amazing time.  I got to spend time with a group doing their problem solving activities which challenged them in lots of different ways and encouraged some fabulous teamwork.  I wanted to thank all of our staff who accompanied the children for the three days:  Miss Tindall; Ms Pascoe; Mrs Shirra (who even celebrated her birthday there); Mr Watson and a special mention to Mrs Denby who organised and cooked for everyone throughout.  Without you all, the residential wouldn't be able to go ahead - we are so grateful that you were able to be there for our pupils; thank you.

Attendance Matters

This week our whole school attendance was 87.5% which is lower than our target of 96%.  Our winning class this week was Year 6 with 94% and they won an extra playtime on the Attendance Wheel.

Our half term Attendance Reward went to Year 3 as they have received the most stars on our weekly chart.  They had a movie afternoon complete with popcorn, beanbags, drinks and treats.  Second place went to Year 6 and third place went to Year 5.  Each child in Years 6 and 5 will take home an Easter egg - congratulations and keep up the super attendance!

Parents' Evenings 23.4.25 and 24.4.25

Our Parents' Evenings are taking place the first week back after the holidays.  The first one takes place on Wednesday 23rd April from 3:20-6pm and the second on Thursday 24th April 3:20-4:30pm.  Bookings will open on Arbor at 5pm on the 14th April and will close at 5pm the day before each Parents' Evening.  We love to see you at our Parents' Evenings as it gives us an opportunity to share the wonderful things that your children have been doing.

Music Concert

The Bradford Music and Arts Service came to Parkland yesterday to deliver a very special concert.  They talked to the children about their instruments and then played some very well known music which had everyone up and dancing!

And finally...

I would like to thank you all for your continued support over the last term, it means such a lot to see you all on the school gate and at the various events we run at Parkland.  I hope you enjoy the Easter holidays and that the weather is kind to us!  Whatever you decide to do, we hope you have a super time doing it.  I will be staying in a lighthouse to celebrate Mr Wierzbianski's 50th birthday; Ms Pascoe and Mr Watson will be recovering from the residential and Mrs Shirra will be properly celebrating her birthday!  We will see you bright and early when we return on Tuesday 22nd April where our doors will reopen at 8:40am ready for learning to begin at 8:45am - let's make this our best term yet!

Nursery

Amzi

For being a superstar in class Amzi is always keen to share his knowledge and support his friends. Well done, Amzi!

Reception

La'Mya

La'Mya has worked hard to explore green/red words in play - making words in provision, role-playing as the teacher teaching her friends, and then writing three beautiful sentences in her literacy task book. La'Mya has worked very hard all year, and achieved great success because of her fabulous attitude to learning.

Phoebe

Phoebe painted a beautiful backwash in Project and added detail using a thin brush - I loved seeing your starfish. All term Phoebe has produced beautiful pictures, and helped others create great pictures, and constructions too. Phoebe looks after others, and always shares her ideas while listening to others.

Year 1

Eve

For always working hard to impress the adults in every lesson and going above and beyond by writing her own story of Little Red riding Hood in her own time!

Lena

For working really hard to problem solve number sentences, she used strategies she has been taught to find the answers!

Year 2

Amelia

For being an amazing role model to all her peers. She is a kind and caring member of the class who always tries her best.

For fantastic contributions and effort in Maths. You always try so hard and put your hand up every lesson.

Year 3

Chloe Gow

For being herself always and responding really well when mastering her emotions. I am so proud of how resilient she has been this week.

Freddie Firth

For being a handwriting legend! Shown he cares about presentation in a massive way. Championing cursive and being a role model for the whole of Year 3.

Year 4

Kysen

Kysen has shown huge improvements in his attitude to learning. I am so impressed with how much enthusiasm he has shown this term!

Paisley

Paisley has such a positive influence on the class. She ensures everyone feels included in school and is always willing to help others when needed.

Year 5

Hope

For always being a hardworking and helpful member of the class. We can always count on you to do what matters most.

Noah

Being a positive and inquisitive force in the classroom; asking questions, helping others to understand when it's tricky and showing interest in all lessons.

All of Year 6

For commitment to their SATs across the half-term as well as pushing themselves outside their comfort zone on the residential! We are so proud of all of you!
