Parkland Post - Friday 13th December 2024
A very warm welcome to this week's festive Parkland Post - grab yourselves a cuppa and snuggle in! I have been such a proud Head of Academy this week in particular as our children have shown every one of our Co-op Ways of Being: Show You Care, Be Yourself Always, Do What Matters Most and Succeed Together. I have loved welcoming so many families into our academy for each of the events; I hope you are beginning to get that festive feeling now!
The Very Hopeless Camel Nativity
Earlier in the week, our youngest children performed the nativity 'The Very Hopeless Camel' for us. It was filled with very catchy songs and myself and Mrs Shirra have struggled to get them out of our heads all week! I am sure you will agree that the children delivered their lines well and that the singing was incredible! Thank you to the Early Years and Key Stage 1 staff for all of the behind the scenes preparation - we simply couldn't have done it without you.
KS2 Carols by Candlelight
Yesterday, we were treated to a wonderful Carols by Candlelight concert by our KS2 children from Years 3 to 6. The lights were dimmed, the tealights were shining and our Christmas tree looked beautiful in the corner. I'm sure you will all agree that the singing was brilliant; thank you for joining in with us and for waving your tealights around! I would like to thank Mrs Shirra and all of the KS2 staff for their involvement - it was just gorgeous.
Attendance Matters
This week's whole school attendance is 89.8% which is much lower than our target of 96%. Our winning class this week were Year 4 with 94.6%. They won a new book for their class - well done!
As you know, we have been holding an attendance competition over the last half term and the prize was a trip to Infinity. The winning class was YEAR 4 - they will be going on their reward trip on Wednesday next week and a letter will be coming home with your children today as you will need to give permission on Arbor.
Please make sure you send your children in every day as they are still taking part in valuable learning.
**Parent attendance competition**
We have a £50 Just Eat voucher up for grabs in our attendance competition. Your child has to have been in school every day and on time this week and next week to be entered into the prize draw - good luck!
Final Week Events
It's hard to believe that we only have one week left. There are lots of things going on next week, details of which can be found below:

And finally...
I would like to take this chance to wish everyone a happy and healthy holiday and for those who celebrate, a very Happy Christmas and New Year. Thank you for all of your support this year and to our fabulous PTA who have worked hard to raise funds for the children and put on lots of events. All of our staff will be having a very well earned rest and will be back ready for the year ahead once they have recharged their batteries! We return to school on Tuesday 7th January 2025 where our doors will open at 8:40am ready for a new year of learning to begin at 8:45am - let's make this our best year yet!
