Parkland Post - Friday 25th October 2024

Welcome to the final Parkland Post of the half term!  It has been a whirlwind of a week with so many events in our academy.  We began the week with Year 3's class assembly where they wowed us with their knowledge of Migration to Leeds and Bradford with a very funky song to end things.  We had our Early Years Stay and Play, it was lovely to see so many families coming in so the children could show you what they have been doing.  They also managed to raise £15 for MacMillan Cancer Support.  We also welcomed families into our academy for our Harvest Festival and were treated to songs, poetry and lots of facts about food around the world.  Thank you to everyone who brought a donation for local food banks - you are fabulous!

Attendance Matters

We have had a dip in attendance this week which is such a shame as we were improving each week for the last few weeks - especially Year 4.  Whilst we understand there are days where your child might feel a little bit poorly, it is always better to send them in to see how they get on as usually, when they get busy in school, they begin to feel better.  If they do have sickness or diarrhea, it is right that they stay at home.  Thank you for supporting us with this important issue.

This week's whole school attendance was 90.8% and the winning class with 98.3% is Year 3 who have won a new classroom game of their choice; well done!

Pumpkin Competition and £25 Just Eat Gift Card Attendance Winner

We had the most incredible entries for our Pumpkin Competition!  I am always amazed at just how creative you all are and am completely envious of the results.  Mr Sowter, who judged the competition, said it was the hardest thing he has ever had to do!  The winners were:

Early Years - Megan Porter

KS1 - Arya-Grace Verity

KS2 - Piper Austin

Every child who entered the competition has been given a sweet treat for taking part.

Just Eat Voucher for 100% attendance

There were 139 children who were entered into the draw to win the voucher as they were in every day and on time - you are superstars!  The winner was Aria-Rose Hardy who can choose something from Just Eat over the holidays - enjoy!

And finally...

We hope you have a wonderful half term holiday, whatever you decide to do.  I am going to be walking Jet lots and visiting my parents on the East Coast.  Ms Pascoe is going with her family to Denmark to visit the Legohouse and Legoland, Mrs Shirra is going down south to visit family and friends and Mr Watson will be heading away for a few days in the sun! We return to school on Monday the 4th November where our doors will be open at 8:40am ready for learning to begin at 8:45am.
