Parkland Post – 16th June

Welcome to this week’s Parkland Post and what a week it has been!  We have noticed so many more families arriving early in the sunshine with big smiles on their faces which has meant our children have been ready to learn when the doors have opened at 8:40 am. Thank you for your commitment to getting your children in on time every day!  We are certainly looking forward to the Big Summer Bash for those children who manage to attend 96%+ of the time over the next five weeks.

More dates will be added and communicated with you as we organise trips, Early Years Stay and Play sessions and parent/carer workshops where you will be able to come in and take part in an activity with your child.

PTA

Thank you to our fabulous PTA who have been selling ice pops this week in the gorgeous weather!  The money raised will go towards supporting events in our academy such as summer discos and PE tournaments.  We are always looking for new people to join so if you feel you can come and help with PTA events and the organisation leading up to each one, our next meeting is 20th June at 2:30 pm.

Rainbow Week

Next week, we are going to be celebrating Rainbow Week.  During the course of the week, we will be celebrating our differences and what makes us special.  On Friday, we will be having an Express Yourself Day where your child can come in non-uniform.  We will be completing tasks all week which promote love and acceptance.

Next week, we are holding two Early Years Open Events.  Please feel free to share this information with anyone who is looking for Nursery or Reception places.

Class Dojo

Class Dojo has been launched across the school! You should have received an invite by text message to sign up. The app is used to communicate with your children’s class teacher and staff at Co-op Academy Parkland. You can also find out all the upcoming information and photos/videos of your children’s learning. If you have any trouble getting on the app please see Mr Watson who is available at the beginning and end of the school day.

Skills Builder

This week’s challenge is definitely for those who like a bit of competition (Ms Pascoe will love this one!).  As always, send us some photos of you doing our challenge and we will put it on our Skills Builder display at the entrance and you will be awarded 10 Skills Builder Class Charts points!

Attendance

We have many conversations with families about absences from school.  We know that children can’t help being poorly, and we wanted to share with you what a day here and there adds up to.  Wherever possible, send your child in and we can see how they get on and give you a call if we need to. Thank you for your support with this.

And finally…

Everyone at Parkland hopes you have a wonderful weekend, the sun is supposed to stay with us on Saturday but we may see some rain on Sunday.  Mrs Wierzbianski and Ms Pascoe are going to be watching the Otley Carnival, Mr Watson will be going to his cousin’s wedding, Mrs Shirra will be enjoying the sunshine. We will see you bright and early on Monday morning when our doors will open at 8:40 am ready for learning at 8:45 am.
