Parkland Post - Friday 1st March 2024
Welcome to this week's Parkland Post - it has been a fabulous week which ended with a visit from our CEO Dr Chris Tomlinson who joined us for our Celebration Assembly. We have a very exciting week ahead of us with World Book Day taking place next Thursday; we can't wait to have a whole day devoted to the love of reading.
World Book Day - Thursday 7th March
Your child can come dressed in pyjamas or as a book character for the day and can enter our competition by completing one of our challenges (see our social media pages for further information). We are also thrilled to be offering our first Book at Bedtime event from 5-6:30pm where families can come into school and choose a room to go and listen to a story whilst enjoying some delicious hot chocolate and biscuits. Our staff are getting very excited about being able to share stories with you all!
The Children's Book Project
As part of our World Book Day festivities, we are thrilled to be able to give each child 2 books to take home as well as their World Book Day £1 token. On the afternoon of the 7th March, the children will be welcomed into the hall to choose 2 books of their own. This is an incredibly generous gift for our children and we would like to thank The Children's Book Project for their donation. Once they have chosen their books, they will be able to read and share these with their reading buddies from across the academy.
Attendance Matters
This week's winning class was Year 1 who managed to get 98.5% which is above the national target of 96% - well done for being in school every day and on time. Their prize was extra play time. Mrs Wierzbianski set a challenge for all classes to reach 96% or above again this week and the classes who will have an extra playtime are: Keep up the great work with attendance and don't forget, if your child is in every day and on time, they will be entered into our raffle to win £50 - you have to be in it to win it!
And finally...
As always, we hope you all have a wonderful weekend whatever you decide to do. Mrs Wierzbianski is going to visit Knaresborough with her sister this weekend, Ms Pascoe is having a pamper day with friends, Mrs Shirra is resting and recuperating after having the flu (send healing thoughts and wishes - we miss you), and Mr Watson is going out for afternoon tea with friends. We will see you bright and early on Monday morning where our doors open at 8:40am ready for learning to begin at 8:45am.

For junk modelling with a friend, an amazing 'bagpuss', and persevering when it seemed too tricky.

Positive Behaviour and working well with an adult to complete her work.

For using active listening and being ready to learn.
Year 2

For her hard work in her assessments. A fantastic effort.
Chloe – Show You Care
For being kind and trying hard to work with her peers.
Year 3
Keivah - Do What Matters Most
For always trying and her amazing behaviour.
Marnie - Succeed Together
For always trying her best in everything keep it up.
Year 4

For making an improvement in how she asks for help and supports others. You have showed such kindness this week.

For taking feedback from adults and being a much more helpful member of the class! Thank you for working so hard!
Year 5

For working really hard on tasks she’s been given, asking for help when needed, letting her personality come through in her work (especially in English) and being confident to share thoughts in front of the class.
Joshua – Do What Matters Most
For working really hard this even when tasks are challenging or things are distracting. His newspaper article for English looks to be an excellent piece of work.
Year 6
Riley - Be yourself always
For being so polite and respectful and still showing your personality - I really enjoy teaching you and you have smashed this week!
