Parkland Post - Friday 22nd March 2024

Welcome to the final Parkland Post of the spring term!  It has been a busy old term and it has been wonderful to reflect on all of the positive things going on in our academy.  I love how well attended our events have been whether it has been Book at Bedtime, Family Breakfast or our Express Yourself Day for Children's Mental Health Week.  We've had success at the various Trust sports competitions which have been expertly run by students and staff at Co-op Academy Priesthorpe and a number of our Year 6 pupils have taken part in the Trust Spelling Bee and Maths Olympics events. We have embodied one of our Ways of Being - Succeed Together.

Easter Holiday Club

Does your child have Free School Meals?  If the answer is yes, your child could take part in our holiday club for FREE!  YACAD (Yorkshire Academy of Creative Arts and Dance) are running events next week for you to drop your child off at and it won't cost you a penny!

To register your child for a free place, register them through the HAF portal https://bradford.haf.fun/login then once registered, you will be able to book your places on YACAD's website: https://www.yacad.co.uk/book-now

*School Dinners - Price Increase*

The price of school dinners is increasing after the Easter holidays as a result of increases by Bradford's Catering Team.  The new price for school dinners will be £2.30 per day.  We have tried to hold off these costs as long as possible but are unable to do this any longer.  The new price will be reflected on ParentPay when you pay for dinners in the normal way.

Communication - Arbor Parent App and Social Media

Thank you for your recent feedback at our Parents' Evenings.  One of the main areas for development for us was to improve communication.  We would like to thank you for your patience as we have transferred everything across to Arbor.  If you haven't already downloaded the Arbor Parent App, please can you do it as soon as possible as things will be shared via the app.

We also share information in a variety of ways:

  • Facebook - Our page is Co-op Academy Parkland
  • Twitter or X - Our page is CoopParkland
  • ClassDojo - www.classdojo.com and search for our academy

Our weekly newsletter Parkland Post also gives you lots of extra information and reminders about upcoming events.

Attendance Matters

This week our whole school attendance has been 93.5% which is below the government target of 96%.  Our winning class with the highest attendance was Year 3 with 97.4% - they won craft packs and an extra playtime; well done!

And finally...

We would like to thank you all for your continued support this term, you make Parkland the fabulous place it is!  This holiday, Mrs Wierzbianski is going to visit her family, Mrs Shirra is going to New York, Mr Watson is going to his friend's wedding and Ms Pascoe is going camping.  Whatever you decide to do, we hope you have a brilliant time!

We will see you bright and early on Monday 8th April where our doors will open at 8:40am ready for learning to begin at 8:45am.

Parkland Pride

Amzi - Nursery

For making some good relationships with his peers and getting involved in lots of play.

Anisah - Reception

Anisah is very respectful to other children and to our classroom. Anisah listens to others when they are speaking and is keen to share her own ideas. Anisah cares for others when they are sad or need some extra help. Anisah looks after the classroom tidying resources away, and is keen to explore her ideas alone and with others. Well done Anisah!

Arfa - Year 1

This term Arfa has gained so much confidence. During lessons, she has been working hard by following instructions, using active listening and taking part in class discussions.

Malik - Year 2

For showing respect and kindness to all his peers and the adults that work with him. For trying his hardest and making lots of progress in all his work this term. He is an absolute star!

For being a genuine delight to teach. Liam brings light to our classroom every day with his kind, fun nature, enthusiasm and positive attitude.

Olivia - Year 5

For being an excellent example for the rest of the class. She is always pushing herself to be better and even when she finds something difficult she keeps going and gives it her all. She's also so helpful to the rest of the class and always has the kindness and patience to help others if they are finding things difficult.

Peyton - Year 6

For always doing the right thing because it's the right thing to do, completing all your work to a high standard, challenging yourself, supporting and being kind to others and showing respect at all times. You are an absolute joy to teach, and you have achieved so much this year already. You are a fantastic school counsellor and put your effort into everything you do.
